Jake Rogers
July 12, 1936 - February 18, 2013
Kinston-Jacob Franklin "Jake" Rogers Sr., 76, of Kinston, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013. Jake was born July 12, 1936 in Lenoir County to the late Charlie Rogers Sr. and Pearlie Whaley Rogers. Jake was a retired automobile mechanic and was working as manager of Lenoir Mobile Estates. He enjoyed watching a race, sweets and food from Bojangles.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Jake had a great love for his family and is survived by six children, Ann Jeanette Tyndall and fiancé', Tommy Thompson of Kinston, Mark Wayne Rogers of Kinston, James Franklin Rogers of Grifton, Debbie Annette Rogers of Kinston, Jacob Franklin Rogers Jr. and wife, Dawn of La Grange, Susan Rogers Heath and husband, Greg of Kinston; three sisters, Betty Ezzell of La Grange, Ena Mae Brown of Kinston and Rosa Eastham of Kinston; eleven grandchildren, David Brian Tyndall Jr., Stephanie Dawn Salesberry, James Rogers Jr., Justin Rogers, Jeremy Rogers, Tina Rogers, Drew Rogers, Carson Rogers, Christian Heath, Elijah Heath and Maxie Rogers; seven great-grandchildren; and his best friend and the mother of his children, Grace Jones of Kinston.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 Thursday at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home of Debbie Rogers, 172 Goodman Road, Kinston. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
