May 15, 1922 - May 8, 2013

Snow Hill-Dorothy Sugg Byrd passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 one week before her 91st birthday. Mrs. Byrd was born May 15, 1922 in Lenoir County to the late Luther Joe Sugg and Bertie Hill Sugg. She was a member of Gordon Street Christian Church. A lover of music and children, Mrs. Byrd was a certified piano teacher and taught piano both privately and in the Greene County School System for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing.

A service of remembrance will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. from Gordon Street Christian Church with Rev. Mark Benson officiating. A reception and time of visitation will follow. Interment will be at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by her husband of seventy two years, George Allen Byrd, Jr.; daughter, LaJune "Bunny" Byrd Hill of Snow Hill; two grandsons, Roy Frank "Frankie" Hill Jr. and wife, Mary Katherine and Tony Allen Hill; four great-grandchildren, Barbara Mays "Maysie" Hill, George Marshall Hill, Roy Frank "Trey" Hill, III and Zachary Allen Hill; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends following the service of remembrance and at other times they will be at the home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com.
