Alyce H. Jones
August 19, 1926 - February 14, 2013
Kinston-Alyce Holland Jones, 86, of Kinston, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 14, 2013. Alyce was born August 19, 1926 in Lenoir County to the late Robert Fulton Holland and Mittie Braxton Holland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney W. Jones; twin sons, Robert Dean Jones and Roger Dale Jones; brother, Robert Braxton Holland; and three sisters, Julie H. Jones, Sallie H. Coombs and Shirley H. Rouse. Alyce was a Red Cross Volunteer for fourteen years in Georgia, North Carolina and Germany. She later worked for the hospital and several local nursing homes. During her sons school years, Alyce served as a Grade Mother, PTA Volunteer and a Cub Scout Den Mother.
A service of remembrance will be held Monday, February 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
Alyce is survived by two sons, Barney W. Jones, Jr. of Damascus, MD and Retired MSgt. Wayne D. Jones and wife, Johanna of Puyallup, WA; five grandchildren, Heather Jones Cornwell and husband, Richie, Benjamin Jones and wife, Elizabeth, Jason Jones, Kyle Douglas Jones and Vanessa Jones; six great-grandchildren, Billy, Heath, Colby Braxton, Elizabeth, Andrew and Matthew; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Jones; two special friends, Debra Schreckengost and Louise Outlaw.
The family will receive friends Monday beginning one hour before the service. The Jones family would like to extend a special thank you to Kinston Spring Arbor and Community Hospice for their outstanding care, love and support.
